Shopify independent station was blocked, be careful of these points

I believe that many of my friends have had their Shopify stores blocked, or have heard of people around them being blocked. As far as I know, it is not a small probability event for a Shopify store to be blocked. Unlike eBay and Amazon, once a Shopify independent station is blocked, it is basically impossible to unblock it, which means that all the data, SKUs, theme templates, domain names, etc. in the store will be gone. If you have spent a lot of effort on SEO, Facebook advertising, etc. before this, it means that all the money and energy spent before will be wasted. Here I will tell you why the store is blocked and how to prevent it.

Shopify was blocked

According to the survey, the vast majority of friends’ stores were closed due to address selection and agent issues.

The store address problem mainly refers to the selection of non-mainland areas such as the United States or Canada in the Shopify backend address settings. After the address is set to the United States or other addresses, a very powerful artifact, Shopify Payment, can be used. So Shopify is extremely sensitive to this. What is Shopify Payment? It is a very easy-to-use credit card payment method with a very low rate of less than 3%. After using Shopifypayment, Shopify will no longer charge transaction fees from the store. In the past few years, Shopify Payment has been wildly exploited by Chinese people due to its ease of use and low rates, so that now Shopify has a one-size-fits-all approach. Any store that detects that the IP address is frequently logged in from the mainland, but the backend address is set to the United States, will be closed without any appeal.

The proxy problem is mainly because many people do not know how to build a proxy by themselves. They usually buy or use free proxies, and the IP addresses used often change. Since the backend login address often changes, Shopify will think that your account is in an unsafe state, so it will be temporarily blocked. Of course, if the account is blocked because of this situation, you can write an email to Shopify to inform the reason, and it can be unblocked.

However, the embarrassing thing is that once your store is blocked for an order, Shopify customer service will not tell you the reason for the blockage, so you should pay special attention to stating that you are using an agent when you first communicate via email to avoid being unable to unblock your store because Shopify does not tell you the reason.

In addition to the two most common reasons mentioned above, there are some other unpredictable risks, so we must always be prepared to prevent the experience and money we have spent from being wasted.

Preventive measures

For changes in proxy IP, and if you have already set your store to the United States and Shopify has not yet detected it, you can try the following method:

Try not to use the main account. Add Stuff accounts in the background Settings-Account and grant all permissions to this account.
